Exceeding Expectations

Updated: Dec 22, 2023

Writing a novel is said to be one of the most difficult tasks. Adding on top being self published, and that adds its own challenges.

I often say that writing is the easy part, a lot of the time the story has an open storyboard, allowing room to divert occasionally to create exciting moments. I've always written this way as sometimes its in the moment as you're writing, that a particular action or moment can make that part of the story stronger.

At the end of that part of the journey comes the real difficulty. Self promotion. Now, as a new author no one really knows who 'Chris Pease' is. Which is fine, I'm just a man trying to make his way in the galaxy. So when I sit back and get my monthly reports on books and eBook sales, it fills me with such an amazing feeling. When I released Under The Skin I learnt a lot about pre orders, distribution and promotion that I was able to put into practice for Project Vanguard.

Under The Skin in just under 6 months, sold just over 100 copies in total. Which to a new author doing it alone, to me, is a real achievement. So when I share that Project Vanguard has sold over 100 copies in just 6 weeks... well, it just fills me with pride.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm fairly humble with my success. Whether it's writing or kart racing, I don't shout too loudly. But with this current accomplishment, it has given me the passion to keep going and so far, I have a novel ready for the next 3 years.

I hope you're ready for a world of fantasy in 2024.
